For dates of further events in Kingston, see our previous post ‘Spring has SPRUNG’. Don’t forget to add yourselves to our Facebook event and invite all your family and friends
The StockMKT @ Kingston’s opening salvo for 2014 will take place in Memorial Square on Thursday 3rd April, 5.30-10pm.
The event is the first of five StockMKT @ Kingston night markets for 2014. Forthcoming dates are: Thursday May 15th, Tuesday 24th June (to launch the refurbished Ancient Market Place) and on Thursday July 31st a summer special to open Kingston’s fabulous annual Food Festival. Finally, on Thursday October 30th we will be staging another Halloween Spooktacular StockMKT that proved to be such a fright-tastic success last year!
All the StockMKT @ Kingston night markets will feature bespoke line-ups of amazing street food, tempting cocktails and soft drinks, crafts for all the family and a stellar musical offering.
Kingston University Illustration and Animation Department is joining forces with us again and creating a unique set of super Spring-themed sideshows and street art. Expect to be entertained, amused, bemused and surprised by some very creative use of the town centre’s spaces.
Deep under the streets of the planet’s greatest city, in the StockMKT lair, the world’s leading nightmkt collective is busy planning this year’s mix of delicious, surprising, and inspiring street food, craft booze, design and arts. In 2014 small will still be beautiful, but we will also be big; we’ll be popping up in new places and in old favourites! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter accounts for all the deets!
A big thank you to all our lovely traders, visitors, performers and helpers – despite a little rain we turned an everyday street in Croydon into a magical space for one night only. For more images visit us on Facebook and Twitter and we’ll be back soon with an update about our exciting plans for 2014!

The StockMKT @ Croydon, 5th December, 4pm till 10pm, Landsdowne Road
We will be making our final and most festive pop up of the year in… Croydon. No, not for us the West End or East London this Christmas, locations where you could open a (street food) paper bag and the tourist and hipster hordes would flood in.
At The StockMKT we love bringing our unique combination of street food, crafts and entertainment to places that deserve to have the best, but sometimes get overlooked. So look out Croydon, we’re incoming…
The StockMKT @ Croydon is a collaboration with Network Rail, the Mayor of London and Croydon Council to celebrate the opening of the superb new bridge at East Croydon Station. It’s an event that will bring together Croydonites, be they workers, shoppers or families.
Landsdowne Road will be closed for the day and the space dressed by our friends at City Dressing. Expect floodlit buildings, street entertainment, fireworks and a street party the likes of which Croydon has yet to behold.
So please do join us… it’s going to be a festive funhouse.
We will be announcing our entertainment and traders over the next week so keep those peepers peeled here and on Facebook and Twitter.
We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everybody who contributed to The StockMKT and Elefest, making it the best attended and most successful festival in its 11 year history.
From festival director Rob Wray, to the awesome traders; from our DJs – Culture Cuts and Nervous Stephen and Del on sound, to Hotel Elephant for letting us use the space (watch out for developments here over the next few months – artists spaces on their way).
Not forgetting Electric Pedals and their crazy bike powered films and PuPP for a true ping pong party; our MC Phil Dirtbox and really great bands such as The Midnight Special, Saraya & Kenny, Mano di Dios and Jerimiah Marques and the Blue Aces.
But most of all to you, the lovely StockMKTeers. Be you local hardcore or from beyond the Elephant, thanks for making it down and making it rock.
Click below to see if you are on any of the mighty Electric Pedals’ exquisite photos (thanks Colin).
See you next year?
Next Up: Kingston Halloween Special, 31st October, Keep your peepers peeled here and on Facebook and Twitter for all the ghoulish details.

The StockMKT, Coldcut, Don Letts & Pop up Ping Pong – Elefest is gonna be rockin’
This October we are bringing it to another level. For two nights only, The StockMKT are taking over a massive warehouse in Elephant & Castle as part of the annual Elefest. As always our shindigs will be a true night market. FREE and welcoming to all – families, freaks, funlovers and hep cats… but not actual cats.
There will be awesome street food from a dozen of the capital’s best trucks, roasters, flippers and barbecuers and we will have a great mix of crafts, craft beer, cocktails from Vestal Vodka, awesome bands and our own DJs too.
For the first time outside of West London, we have the legendary Pop Up Ping Pong bringing their ping pong and beer pong tables and huge slice of party spirit to The StockMKT. Find them on Twitter @PingPopPong.

From around 10pm on our first night (4th Oct) in the Elefest Cinema Club (£5) which is joined to our main space, actor Nathaniel Parker will introduce a night of film and sonics. First off, Matt Black of the pioneering Coldcut will be creating a unique sonic mix over classic silent films. This will be followed by DJs Ben Osborne and Justin Robertson bringing their ‘Noise of Art’ interpretation of The Wicker Man to the big screen. This is absolutely mind-blowing stuff to have on after our night market.

The Harder They Come – 40th Anniversary Screening + Don Letts DJ Set
On the second night (5th Oct), again from 10pm, musical legend Don Letts, who should be known to you from his amazing work in Big Audio Dynamite in the 80s, his punk-reggae films from the 70s and today from his ace BBC 6 Music show, will be DJing in the Elefest Cinema Club. The mighty Letts will be tailoring his set to follow a unique 40th anniversary screening of The Harder They Come, the best of all reggae films and a must see if it’s eluded you so far. If you’ve seen it before, then why not see it again, but with Mr Letts as your host?

How to find us…
The venue is just five minutes walk from Elephant & Castle Tube and rail or from Borough Tube. Pretty much every bus in London seems to go through Elephant if you are coming on one of those big red things and night buses run all…er…night.
Entry to The StockMKT, as always, is FREE and tickets are just £5 per night for the cinema club. For details on tickets for the full weekend, visit the Elefest site.
See you there!
This autumn The StockMKT’s unique blend of street food, crafts and live music returns to Kingston on 31st October and then for Christmas on 12th December. Also, we have something REALLY special planned for a secret location on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October in central London – keep an eye on Facebook and our Twitter for more news over the next few days! We are extremely excited.
Continuing our association with the wonderful Kingstonfirst, we are back on Thursday August the 8th to launch the annual Kingston Food Festival. Located again in the town’s picturesque ancient Market Place, the StockMKT action begins at 5.30pm and continues until 10pm.
We will have an XL selection of London’s hottest street food traders, to reflect that we are kicking off the festival. These include Indian dosas, rotisserie chicken, awesome burgers, hand made Neapolitan pizzas, British food, Thai noodles, proper hot dogs, Italian small plates and Japanese dumplings. Fancy something sweet to finish? We have marshamallows, oodles of cakes and proper ice lollies to freshen your palate.
Need something to wash all that down with? Hopbox will return with a full selection of the best craft lagers and ales and good house wines and London’s hottest vodka distillers – Vestal Vodka will be smashing out the cocktails.
We also have a fresh mix of the cutest and craftiest crafts with everything from ethical bicycle accessories to honey and all things bee; jewellery to high quality hand blown glassware.
We are really chuffed to have secured jazz legends Kenny Clayton and Paul Ryan who are currently performing in the West End. They will be cranking out retro classics from the Great American Songbook.
DJ Nervous Stephen completes the line up. He is eclectic, electric and er… nervous. A Soho musical legend.
One of London’s best and heavyweight food festivals, Kingston’s week long gourmand bash attracted over 80,000 people in 2012. For more info visit http://kingstonfoodfestival.com
